Introduction

Because of the towering Ten Peaks and turquoise glacier lake, Moraine Lake has become Banff's most sought after mountain landscape to visit and photograph. The Ten Peaks even graced our 20 dollar bill from 1978 to 1993.

Because of Moraine Lake's popularity, it has also become congested creating daily road closures and long wait times to gain access.

With our small group photography tour, you will get direct access to Moraine Lake without the wait times!

With our knowledgeable local landscape photographers as your guide, we will help you get amazing postcard images of Moraine Lake with your iPhone or dSLR.

Tour Details

Our Moraine Lake landscape photography tour starts off by picking you up from your hotel in either Canmore, Banff or Lake Louise. Please be ready at the pickup time stated for your location.

After we pick everyone up from Canmore and Banff, we head directly to Lake Louise to pick up guests in Lake Louise. From Lake Louise we then make our way along Moraine Lake Road to Moraine Lake. On this 20 minute drive from Lake Louise our photography guides(s) will chat up the group with some photography tips to help you be prepared to capture the beauty of Moraine Lake.

The tour will then head to several more locations, depending on time and light conditions. Your guide’s know-how and extensive experience in Banff National Park will show you the way, giving you absolute peace of mind that you’re at the very best location and primed to get the photo result you’re striving for. All this, while taking in your serene surroundings – making a memorable experience for any photographer. Please see the main locations we will visit below.

Afternoon Moraine Lake Landscape Photography Tour

Moraine Lake

Moraine Lake is our first stop and arguably the best place in Banff National Park to photograph sunrise. With its towering Ten Peaks that hug the shoreline of the turquoise blue glacial waters of the lake, this place is quintessential Canadian Rockies.

The drive to Moraine is about 1.5 hours from Canmore, 1 hour from Banff and 30 minutes from Lake Louise. Upon arrival to the Moraine Lake parking lot, your guide(s) will give you a quick run down on camera settings and get everyone set up with tripods and a hot drink. Your guide(s) will then lead you up to the Moraine to get set up with a perfect composition for sunrise.

Herbert Lake Banff Landscape Photography Tours And Workshops Rocky Mountain Photo Adventures

Herbert Lake

Typically Herbert Lake will be your next location after Moraine Lake. Herbert Lake is a fantastic location to look for amazing reflections in its emerald waters of the Bow Mountain range that surrounds the village of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.

morants Curve Summer Banff Landscape Photography Tours and Workshops Rocky Mountain Photo Adventures

Morant's Curve

About a 15 minute drive from Herbert Lake, our last destination is Morant's Curve. Made famous by CP photographer Nicholas Morant, this location is fantastic to capture that quintessential image of Canada with a train winding its way through epic mountain peaks. Here your photography guide(s) will help you get set up with the right settings to capture a moving train through the landscape. Because there is no guarantee of a train when we visit, we will wait here for an amount of time that our guides feel lis suitable while keeping in mind our tour times.
