Who is this workshop suitable for?
Our private guided landscape photography workshops are perfect for those who would like one-on-one landscape photography instruction while on location. We will tailor your instruction based on what your current level of understanding is and establish areas of improvement. From the best settings for your camera, mastering exposure and how to compose landscape images in the Canadian Rockies, we will help take your landscape photography to the next level.
I'm not an experienced photographer. Does this matter?
No problem! Our private landscape photography workshops are suitable for any skill level. We can help you get the best picture possible with whatever camera you have or level of comfort you have with the camera.
Will we be doing lots of hiking?
Fortunately, Banff National Park has the best landscape photography opportunities very close to the road. We do not need to hike very far from the tour van to get amazing landscape images!
I won't have a tripod with me. Is that OK?
No worries! We have tripods available for you to use during the session if you wish to use one.
What time does your workshops start?
In general, we love starting our workshops about an hour and a half before sunrise. Sunrise is one of the best times to photograph in the Banff area. It is also a great time of day to avoid the crowds and see wildlife. However, we are happy to start a workshop at any time in the day. We also can do night photography to capture the night sky and potentially see Aurora!
Do you offer anything to eat?
Because our landscape photography startworkshops generally start early, we understand that you may not have had breakfast already. Although we won't have a hot breakfast for you, we will certainly have good coffee and some breakfast snack bars to keep you tied over till we get you back to your hotel.
What should I wear on this tour?
The Canadian Rockies is a fairly arid climate at a high altitude. Because of this, even in summer it can be quite chilly first thing in the morning. Here are some recommendations:
- Warm sweater
- Hiking shoes with sturdy sole and tread
- Spring Jacket/Rain coat
Sunrise at Moraine Lake with Mark
I decided to kick off my trip with a personal photo session with Mark. It was a wonderful morning and I learned a ton. What was even better was before my trip Mark helped me pick our the right camera and I was in the market to buy. He taught me how to use my new equipment and snag every shot I was hoping to capture while in the mountains. He was so friendly and our entire morning together was just a lot of fun. Mark has travelled all over the world and it was so nice to converse with him about his adventures and exchange stories. I'm pretty into social media so Mark even helped me process and share the perfect image. All in one morning with RM Photo Adventures I learned how to use my new camera, snap the perfect shot, edit it and share it with family and friends by the time I got home. Learning to mask two photos for one final image was fascinating and made for the perfect print for my home. If I could I'd take Mark, his talent and photo and life insights on all my trips from now on, I would! Time spent with Rock Mountain Photos Adventures is irreplaceable.
Mark was so awesome to work with. I really enjoyed how he took the time to really explain everything he was doing and showing me how certain compositions looked. Understanding how to capture a breathtaking photo is really something I'm gunning for and I feel like I left this tour with being able to achieve this on my own landscape photos with the directions that Mark provided me with. 10/10 recommend
This Tour Was Amazing!
A year later, and I am still in awe of the amazing photos that we took. I recently made a 24" x 36" metal print of one of the images, and when it arrived, my assistant and I were shocked into silence at the beauty and majesty of the image. Mark was amazingly patient, kind and helpful with me throughout the guided tour, and his help produced images that I will be proud of for a lifetime. I will definitely book another adventure with these guys when I come back.
Awesome private guiding session
Knowing the amazing photogenic places in Banff area I was looking for an instructor to help me to reveal the beauty of the surrounding nature using the photography. Doing my research on internet I have ended up on finding Rocky Mountain Photo Adventures and Mark. Coming from France with different knowledges in photography my husband and I spent 5 days private guiding session with Mark. For this awesome experience, we would like to highlight the competence of Mark and his great professionalism and sense of service. We, my husband and I, have learned so much. The post-processing lessons were also very informative. Everything was great and above all the effort provided by Mark to allow us to have the best photos in fonction of the spot location and the surrounding elements of the landscape independently of our photography skills and the moment of the day. Simply, we spent such a good time with Mark in incredible spots. Mark has changed our way to do photography to better reveal the natural beauty. We would definitely recommend Mark and Rocky Mountain Photo Adventures to anyone who loves photography, at any skill level.
I had a great 1:1 private day with Mark. The day kicked off with an absolutely epic sunrise. Mark is a phenomenal teacher and educator. We packed a lot into 8 hours. I had a terrific experience and will for sure reach back out to Mark the next time I am in Banff
